Andre Agassi isn’t sure how much longer the career of Novak Djokovic has to run – but the old pro has predicted that the 37-year-old serb is likely to run out of competitive motivation sooner rather than later.

The American once coached Djokovic for a brief period as a consultant and know the game of the 24-time Grand Slam champion,

The 54-year-old predicts that the end will eventually come even for the longtimme world No. 1 who currently stands seventh in the world after a disappointing 2024 season with only an Olympic gold medal to show for his efforts.

“It’s hard to say, Father Time always wins,” Agassi said by way of prediction

.“He’s already done so much, so long, and it’s hard to imagine longer. I think he’ll run out of the energy for it more than the capability of it, I would imagine.”

Djokovic is the last of the Big 4 players still active after the retirement of rRoger federer in 2022 and the departures of Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal this season.

The veteran serb will hope to start afresh in just a few weeks after taking on former rival Murrry as a coach, with the Scot expected to be in the box for the Australian Open start on January 12.

“It cannot be easy, especially when the people you came to the dance with (his former opponents)  have left, that’s a big thing,” Agassi said.

“When Pete (Sampras) retired (in 2002), it was a blow to me. It set me back a little bit. It made me have to rediscover my inspirations on some level.

“Djokovic has lost the guys that he’s made history with. So, it’s probably emotionally going to get tougher and tougher quickly, but I would never bet against him. Bet against him at your own peril.”
