Anisimova takes revenge for Wimbledon humiliation

Amanda Anisimova needed less than two months to take her revenge for a tragic Wimbledon final loss to Iga Swiatek, with the American turning the tables on Wednesday 6-4, 6-3 to reach the US Open semi-finals.

Anisimova was trounced on July 12 love and love by Swiatek, who won her sixth Grand Slam title.

Eighth seed Anisimova broke Swiatek in the penultimate game of the second set after winning the first. She then worked her way a game later to three match points before finishing off the upset.

Anisimova improved to 3-1 in Grand Slam quarter-finals and will compete in her third semi-final at the majors. after Wimbledon in July and Roland Garros 2019.

Former No. 1 Swiatek was broken four times, finishing with 13 winners and 15 unforced errors.
