Djoko aiming for 2025 revenge against Sinner, Alcaraz
After his worst season in decades, Novak Djokovic is plotting his 2025 revenge against the pair of young guns who stole the glory from the Serb this season.
World No. 2 Jannik Sinner and No. 3 Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz divided the Grand Slam among them this past season with the Italian claiming the Australian and US Opens while Alcaraz picked up Paris and Wimbledon.
Djokovic, who massively reduced his playing schedule, went without a major trophy for the first time since 2017.
The 37-year-old has vowed to spring back into action in 2025, with former hot rival Andy Murray in his coaching box.
And Djokovic, with the record 24 Grand Slam singles titles, has admitted that he let himself down this season as his motivation appeared to fade.
“In 2024 I have played little and, apart from the Olympic gold and the Wimbledon final, it has been my worst season in ten years,” he told Milan’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I feel that I can still play at a high level. Sinner and Alcaraz have established themselves as the best in the world without forgetting [Alexander] Zverev.
“They will be the big candidates for the Grand Slams and other titles.”
The lone consolation for Djokovic this season was a Paris Olympic gold medal, with the veteran playing his last match of the season in October and skipping the ATP Finals despite qualifying into the eight-man field.
But it appears to be all-go for the upcoming season. “Physically and mentally, I am ready to play tennis.
“I have the feeling that I can challenge these guys and my experience will be useful to me.
“Next year I will play more tournaments and the Grand Slams will be my priority. I will give my best to win if my body allows me.”
