Djoko on the mend after Paris knee operation

Novak Djokovic on Thursday confirmed the success of a knee procedure and promised to return to the courts as soon as possible.

The Serb posted a picture of his team and himself on crutches in Paris with the Eiffel tower in the background.

“In the past day, I had to make some tough decisions after sustaining a meniscus tear during my last match,” he said on Insta.

“I’m still processing it all but I am happy to update you that the surgery went well.

“I am so appreciative of the team of doctors who have been by my side… “

Djokovic injured the meniscus in his right knee this week during a fourth-round match but played on to victory before retiring from the quarter-finals to hand a walkover to Casper Ruud.

The most optimistic medical predictions suggest Djokovic would need a minimum three weeks to recover – possibly more.

That timing would make Wimbledon starting July 1 a dicey possibility which the Paris Olympics would likely be doable.
