Novak Djokovic has set himself a goal of superhuman fitness for 2026, with the 38-year-old determined to try and keep pace with young guns Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

The winner of a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles has told Sky that his goal for next season is to beat the injury jinx and somehow lift an historic 25th honours at one of the four majors.

“I’m trying to rebuild the machine. I’ve been injured more often in the last 18 months,” he told the broadcaster.

“I’m trying to rebuild my body so that the start of next season is excellent and, hopefully, I can compete with the very best.”

The first test of his vow of excellence will likely come at the Australian Open, with six weeks to go before the start in Melbourne; the Serb who is approaching two decades in the sport, has won the title 10 times, most recently in 2023.

World No. 1 Alcaraz and hot Italian rival Sinner split the four Grand Slams between them in 2025, with Sinner taking Australia and Wimbledon while the Spaniard picked up Roland Garros and Flushing Meadows.
