Jack Draper secured his best win of the year by knocking World No. 4 Taylor Fritz out of the BNP Open in Indian Wells.

His 7-5,6-4 win put him into the quarter finals here for the first time.

The British No. 1 won seven straight games from 4-5 in the first set to take a 4-0 lead in the second.

Fritz managed to claw back to 4-5, but Draper continued to serve solidly and secured his second victory against Fritz, his seventh over a top 10 player and third over a Top 5 opponent

Draper’s serve dominated the match winning 32 of 35 points on his first serve.

“I felt great. It is the best match I have played here so far in the three years I have been here,” Draper said.

“I was happy with the way I was sharp. I moved great and competed well. There were a few moments here and there which I was brave, which I spoke to my coach about before the match.

When you have chances against these types of players. Taylor is such an amazing player, so to come through in the way I did I am very proud of that.”

Draper will face the last remaining home player Ben Shelton, weather permitting, in Thursday’s quarter final.
