Ex Rafa coach Francisco Roig becomes eighth coach of Raducanu’s career

Emma Raducanu has included Rafael Nadal’s former coach Francisco Roig to her backroom team on a full time basis ahead of the US Open.

Raducanu has recently been coached by Andy Murray’s former coach Mark Petchey on an informal basis but his TV commitments meant he was always unable to become Raducanu’s full-time coach.

Roig worked alongside Rafa Nadal’s Uncle Toni for most of the 22-time Grand Slam champion’s career.

Raducanu, the 2021 champion at Flushing Meadows,  worked with the British coach on an informal basis since March, which resulted in a positive run of results.

The 22-year-old British No. 1 will begin work with Roig starting at this week’s Cincinnati Open after he agreed a contract until the end of 2025.
