Ons Jabeur has again expressed her deep disappointment at the lack of women’s matches on the French Open night programme, with the two-time Paris quarter-finalist making her feeling known after a first-round loss.

The Tunisian who has played three Grand Slam finals said that excuses offered by the French federation are the same tired story trotted out in previous years.

“In Europe, in general, it’s unfortunate for women’s sports. Whoever is making the decision, I don’t think they have daughters, because I don’t think they want to treat their daughters like this.

“They don’t show women’s tennis, and then they ask the question, ‘Yeah, but mostly they watch men’ – of course they watch men more because you show men more.”

Jabeur cast blame on television contracts which keep women’s matches on the sidelines of Roland Garros broadcasts.”It’s a shame from the Federation that they made such a contract like this.”
