Jabs for Djoko as blister problem surfaces in Paris
Novak Djokovic will have 48 hours to recover from serious blistering in his left foot before putting himself into a third-round test at Roland Garros.
The Serb revealed he needed injections after beating Corentin Moutet in the second round and is hoping to be ready for action when he faces Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic on Saturday.
The youngster with Balkan heritage similar to Djokovic trained with the 24-time Grand Slam champion only weeks ago in private sessions.
Djokovic said that treating the blisters is job one in Paris.
I’m pretty fit at the moment, but it took me almost an hour to deal with the blister and the bleeding that I had.
“They had to use the injections and draw the blood out and then inject something to dry out the blister.”
The 38-year-old understandably called the procedure “not really a pleasant process.”
“But anyone who has blisters that are bleeding has to do it.”
The fifth seed said the problem is unlikely to affect his upcoming match.
“I don’t think it’s going to be an issue for me to recover. The good thing about Slams is obviously you have a day in between (matches).
“So plenty of time to recover and get ready for next one.”
