No sweat for Alcaraz as Wimbledon heats up

Carlos Alcaraz spelled out details of the sweat monitor he has been wearing during Wimbledon training as the grass-court Grand Slam prepares for a heatwave start on Monday.

Opening day temps are set to hit a sweltering 33 Celsius – hot and bothered by British standards.

Five-time Grand Slam winner Alcaraz – who has lifted the trophy at the previous two editions here – tuned up by winning the Queen’s club title in London prior to spending this week playing a round of golf with Andy Murray and hitting the practice courts.

But the training came with a difference as Team Alcaraz prepares for the toasty temperatures.

“I always say the details make difference,” the 22-year-old said. “(His patch) is . something to control the sweat, what should I take during the matches, before the matches, just to be at my 100 per cent.

“It’s probably just going to help one or two percent more. This (patch) is something I am working on sometimes.

“I did it in Paris. I’m doing here just to see what should I take.”This week, last week, and I think next week it’s going to be pretty hot. So I think it’s going to be great to know what should I take more, more water or whatever.”
