Norrie extends his quest for IW title repeat
Cam Norrie kept his hopes alive for a possible dream trophy repeat at the Indian Wells Masters on Wednesday as he dismissed qualifier Rinky Hijikata 6-4, 6-2 and booked a quarter-final spot.
The Briton ranked 29th continued his impressive run, reaching the last eight without losing a set with victory in 76 minutes over his No. 117 opponent.
Hijikata was the second Australian scalp here for Norrie, who knocked out Alex de Minaur 48 hours earlier.
The Brit began with a break of Hijikata and was never threatened.
On his own serve, the 27th seed faced only one break point in the match as he tries to match his 2021 title here in his eighth appearance at the Californian desert venue.
Norrie could face Carlos Alcaraz in quarter final.
