Novak can’t say if this will be his final Wimby
Novak Djokovic just can’t say if this edition will mark his final Wimbledon appearance, with the veteran Serb determined to wring every bit of success possible from his brilliant career.
The 38-year-old is hoping to get over the line for a record-setting 25th Grand Slam singles title after winning his last in just short of two years ago in New York.
But the Serb is not stressing and is instead plotting what he hopes will be a successful Wimbledon
One more title here would pull him level on the eight trophies of Roger Federer.
“When I come here, I feel extra inspired to deliver the best tennis,” the world No. 6 said on Saturday. “We all know the tradition and the heritage and the culture of this wonderful tournament.
“It’s so impressive every single time you walk into this premises, you feel that beautiful tradition.”
Djokovic said that he is taking the tournament in small chunks instead of looking too far ahead.
“Whether it could be my last dance (here), I’m not sure, as I’m not sure about Roland Garros or any other Slam that I play.
“My wish is to play for several more years. I would love to be healthy physically and also mentally motivated to keep on playing at the highest level.
“That’s the goal, but you never know at this stage.”
The veteran who holds 10 Australian Open titles insists that he has a good shot at Wimbledon.
“I would probably agree that Wimbledon could be the best chance because of the results I had, because of how I feel, how I play in Wimbledon, just getting that extra push mentally and motivation to perform the best tennis at the highest level.”
