On-form Iga eases past Yastremska
Iga Swiatek won 10 games on the trot to power into the fourth round of the Indian Wells Masters on Sunday, with the world No. 2 hammering Dayana Yastremska 6-0, 6-2.
The second seed who owns titles here from two of the previous three editions, advanced in a brief 66 minutes, overcoming a few minor niggles as she closed out victory.
“It was a little tighter at the end,: the Pole said. “It can be hard to finish a match like that.
“But I’m happy I got my intensity up in the last game. I closed it out with big confidence.”
After sweeping the opening set in just over half an hour, Swiatek maintained her level in the second.
“I had control from the beginning so I’m happy with the result for sure,” the winner said.
Swiatek, a five-time Grand Slam winner, improved her record at the Californian desert event to 20-2, with 17 of those victories earned in straight sets.
