Italian Mattia Bellucci knocked out his second major opponent of the week on Friday, defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-2 in a Rotterdam quarter-final shock.

The qualifier ranked 92nd followed his first-round defeat of Daniil Medvedev here.

It took less than 90 minutes to dismiss 12th ranked Tsitsipas, a former top 10 regular.

Bellucci set up a semi against Australia’s world No. 8 Alex de Minaur, who booked his spot over German Daniel Altmaier 6-1, 6-4.

Tsitsipas, who has yet to get his game uncorked so far this season, was broken to love in the final game, with Bellucci advancing on a second match point.“When I was serving for the first set, I was a little bit heavy on my legs,” the 23-year-old winner said.

“But definitely I was enjoying it; I’ll be doing (that) tomorrow.”
