A year ago, Mark Petchey rode to the rescue of Emma Raducanu. taking over as the Brit’s temporary coach and producing some surprising success.

But with the No. 24 Brit again without a coach, London’s Telegraph reports that the former player who has carved out a career in TV match commentary will not be available to agains rescue the former US Open winner.

After splitting with Spaniard Francisco Roig after an early Australian Open defeat, Raducanu is seeking her 10th coach since winning her Grand Slam title five years ago.

Petchey has broadcast work that will keep him firmly anchored in the commentary booth for all major tournaments this season save Wimbledon and the US Open.

Only at those events would he be available for a one-off price.

Raducanu is currently hitting in the run-up to the Indian Wells Masters with a journeyman partner from Petchey’s tennis academy,

Petch himself will be in the booth for the entirety of both the Californian tournament which starts on Wednesday and the Miami Masters which follows.

Judging from 2025, the Petch Effect is real for Raducanu: when they worked from Miami to Wimbledon, she reached 15 wins with eight defeats.
