Raducanu falls tamely to Wimbledon finalist Anisimova
Britain’s Emma Raducanu came into her third round match in Montreal with a perfect 2-0 record in Australia and Miami over Amanda Anisimova, but took just three games, losing 2-6, 1-6.
Despite losing the Wimbledon final 0-6, 0-6 last month Anisimova is on a current streak of winning 14 of her last 17 matches – more than any other player in that time span – and has now won 50 matches at WTA 1000 events.
Anisimova hit 29 winners to Raducanu’s 5, while the new British No. 1 made 22 unforced errors.
She will face 10th seed Elina Svitolina in the fourth round after the Ukrainian trounced Anna Kalinskaya 6-1 6-1.
