Sabalenka remains untouchable in Australia
Aryna Sabalenka won her fourth title in Australia with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 comeback in the Brisbane International final over qualifier Polina Kudermetova on Sunday.
The v victory was a repeat for Sabalenka, who won Brisbane in 20021 when the event was shifted to Adelaide during Covid; she lost the Queens;and final a year ago to Elena Rybakina.
She also owns the last two Australian Open trophies and will begin her bid for a hat-trick on Sunday in Melbourne.
The world No. 1 is bidding to become the first woman to win three consecutive Australian Opens since Martina Hingis (1997 – 1999).
Sabalenka bounced back after dropping the opening set, losing just five points on serve in the second set and took victory as she swept the deciding third to end it after an hour and three-quarters..
