Sabalenka sets up WTA Finals title clash with Rybakina
In a rerun of September’s US Open Final Aryna Sabalenka set up a WTA Finals title clash with Elena Rybakina after a titanic semi-final victory over Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The US Open champion saved five break points before finding herself on the back foot in the second set when Anisimova reeled off the opening four games and it wasn’t long until the match went into a decider.
Rybakina had earlier beaten Jessica Pegula coming from a set down to win 4-6 6-4 6-3 and make the WTA Finals title matchup, giving her a chance to take her first season-ending crown.
