Daniil Medvedev scored a win over two-metre Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, with his 6-4, 6-4 decision sending him into a third consecutive quarter-final at the ATP Dubai event on Wednesday.

The top seed will play for the final four against Tallon Griekspoor, who knocked out holder Ugo Humbert of France 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

Medvedev won the Aviation Club title in the emirate two years ago but has not lifted a Tour trophy since winning the Rome Masters in 2023.

His 21-year-old opponent was out done by 25 unforced errors in the opening set and 44 over all as the court-wise Medvedev used seasons of experience to gain the upper hand.

The world No. 6 finished after 85 minutes on a first match point.

“I was very good on my serve, that helped. Then you can put pressure on his serve, try to guess or see something. I’m generally happy with my level,” the winner said.

“There were some second serves I missed [however], and I was disappointed. You just try to do your best and I managed it pretty well today.”

Mpetshi Perricard saved eight of 10 break points as he exited.
