Stefanos Tsitsipas double-faulted on a match point but finished off victory seconds later with a serve winner as the 10th seed stayed in the chase for a spot at the year-end ATP Finals.

Tsitsipas advanced to the quarter-finals at the Paris Bercy Masters on Friday with a 6-7 (1), 6-4, 6-3 defeat of Francisco Cerundolo, his second in as many weeks after dumping the Argentine out in the Basel first round nine days ago.

Greek Tsitsipas stands provisional 11th in the season points race for the eight-man season wrapup in Turin which begins a week from Sunday.

He would need to reach the final here to make it into the field, according to ATP calculations.

Two-time tournament Tsitsipas beat Cerondolo in just under two and a half hours, striking  22 winners and breaking on three of 11 chances.

Tsitsipas is chasing a sixth year-end appearance and has now reached a Paris quarter-final for the fourth time in seven appearances.
