US Open 2025 Men’s Day 6

Carlos Alcaraz dropped serve for the first time at this edition of the US Open on Friday, with the Spaniard recovering nicely to secure a 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 win over Luca Darderi into the fourth round.

The ATP No. 2 increased his lead atop the season win list to 57 as he bids for a seventh title of 2025 at the event he won three years ago.

Alcaraz now owns 80 wins at the Grand Slams and has won 20 matches in New York.

Darderi was playing in only his seventh match at a major and faced seven break points during his effort.

The Italian’s highlight came as he broke the Alcaraz serve for 3-4 in the second set and held to level 4-all a game later.

The Spaniard took a medical timeout at 5-4 in the second set to have a knee checked out as he carried on to advance in an hour and three-quarters.

“I’m feeling good, it was just a precaution that I asked for the physio,” Alcaraz said. 

“When he broke my serve, in the last point I felt something in the knee, but after five or six points it was gone. 

“I was worried after that. That’s why I asked for the physio, but it was nothing serious. After that, I just didn’t feel it anymore, and it was good.”

Alcaraz now plays Arthur Rinderknech, who defeated French compatriot Benjamin Bonzi in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 comeback effort.

Jiri Lehecka broke through for the fourth round here for the first time, defeating Belgian  The Czech will play in the last 16 of a major for the third time in his career after his two-hour victory..
