Wimbledon now a no-go for Murray after back surgery
Andy Murray’s plan to wind down his career at Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics has fallen apart with reports the Scot will miss the grass-court Grand Slam after Saturday back surgery.
London’s Telegraph reported that the former No. 1 was operated on in London for a cyst on his back and will need six weeks of recovery.
That timetable will certainly rule him out of Wimbledon, which begins in eight days and leaves the Olympic looking extremely doubtful.
The three-time Grand Slam champion quit his second round match this week at Queen’s Club with back pain after five games against Jordan Thompson.
Officially, Murray still remains on the Wimbledon entry list. he was to have played doubles with elder brother Jamie at the All England Club and is listed on the British Olympic squad for Paris in both singles and doubles.
